If you are in a program of study with mandatory co-op or internship terms you must obtain an Internship Work Permit (along with your Study Permit). The application for the Co-op/Internship Work Permit must be made at the same time as the Study Permit if the co-op/internship starts in the first term of classes. You are encouraged to apply for your co-op/internship work permit at least 3 months before your internship is due to start in case there are processing delays. This application is fee exempt (i.e. free). You are eligible for this permit if: you have a valid Study Permit, the employment in question is a requirement of your program and/or the employment constitutes less than 50% of your program. For specific study permit processing times, visit Citizenship and Immigration Canada. When you apply for certain documents, such as your Study Permit, there is no guarantee that you will be approved. You should not purchase plane tickets or make other final travel arrangements until your documents are in order. TOP 10 REASONS TO STUDY ABROAD IN CANADA

The United Nations ranked Canada as one of the best places in the world to live, based on Canada's achievements in terms of educational attainment, life expectancy, national income and general quality of life, among other things.

1.Best place to live
A Canadian degree, certificate, and diploma is considered equivalent to the degrees in other Commonwealth countries and the US. Canada’s universities maintain high standards of academic excellence and are consistently recognised in top international rankings. In 2012, four Canadian universities: University of British Columbia, McGill University, McMaster University and University of Toronto, were listed in the top 100 colleges by ARWU Shanghai Rankings. The QS University Ranking had five more: Universität de Montréal, HEC Montréal University of Alberta, Queen's University, University of Waterloo in its list of top 100s.

2.Amongst the best places to study
Canada's universities maintain high standards of academic excellence and are consistently recognized in top international rankings.

3.Internationally recognized degrees
Each year hundreds of thousands of international students attend Canadian colleges and universities. Their degrees are recognized around the world as being equivalent to those obtained from the United States or Commonwealth countries.

4.A multicultural country
Canada is home to a large number of aboriginal people (First Nations, Inuit and Métis), and over the past century and a half it has welcomed 15 million immigrants. With some 200,000 new immigrants from more than 175 countries arriving every year Canada receives the highest percentage of newcomers in the world relative to its population of over 34 million.

5.A safe, stable country
Canada is a peaceful, politically stable, and safe democracy and it is rarely affected by natural disasters. Almost 70 per cent of international students involved in a CBIE survey cited Canada's reputation as a safe country as an important reason for deciding to study here.

6. Opportunity to immigrate
After studying in Canada, you may want to settle down there permanently, which happens with most students owing to the lucrative combination of opportunities and the quality of life the great North-American nation offers. After completing the degree and gaining a work experience of a year, you can apply for a permanent citizenship, which usually takes 15-18 months to process

7. Multicultural country with deep democratic values
Canada is a country of immigrants and follows a policy of fostering multicultural diversity. The Canadian society comprises of almost all of the world's ethnic groups. You will easily find most ethnic foods and cultural activities. You will easily find informal clubs and associations representing various ethnicities. The Canadian government has left no stone unturned in reaping the benefits of the tightened US visa system post 9/11.

9. Care and Safety
The Government and Universities plays an important role for the safety of students inside the university and across the country. Starting from health care to security, necessary measures will be taken to keep students safe.
