Why Study in Concordia University

Concordia University is welcoming, engaged, and committed to innovation and excellence in education, research, creative activity and community partnerships. It dares to be different and draws on its diversity to transform the individual, strengthen society and enrich the world. Concordia’s core values stem from those long prized by its founding institutions, Loyola College and Sir George Williams University. Concordia adopted the motto of the city of Montreal, Concordia salus, which speaks to well-being through harmony. The union of two very different institutions of higher education has led to an exceptionally successful synthesis of compatible and timely values.

Every year, our scholars, facilities and city inspire more than 50,000 students to engage with big questions head-on. We’re a comprehensive university. We search for innovative solutions and make positive contributions to society. Our creativity powers Montreal and connects us to the world. See how we plan to redefine the 21st-century university.

Concordia is an English-language university in the heart of the world-class city of Montreal, Canada. From classroom to lab, in our libraries and on our streets, the Concordia community is resolutely anchored to the real world — open and engaged, compassionate and caring. We are recognized for our flexible approach to learning, and for our commitment to examining societal issues from a broad perspective in our teaching and research. It’s an approach that is rooted in Concordia’s founding in 1974, which brought together Loyola College (1896) and Sir George Williams University (1926).

Nearly 48,000 students are pursuing their educational and research goals at Concordia. The University is made up of four Faculties (Arts and Science, Fine Arts, the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science and the John Molson School of Business), a School of Graduate Studies and a Centre for Continuing Education. We encourage our students to become active, critical and concerned citizens in order to enrich the world’s wealth of knowledge, bridge communities and, most importantly, grow and contribute. We call our approach “next-generation” — examining the issues of the day and seizing opportunities with a diversity of thought and an openness of spirit.

Our philosophy includes complementing classroom time with practical, real-life experience. It means being engaged in research opportunities, athletics, professional networking, alumni mentoring and more. It also means being connected to friends and dedicated professors in a remarkable urban environment that will make students feel right at home.

There's more to university success than classes, labs and lectures. Attending university is your time to explore and grow personally, intellectually and spiritually. Ambrose offes you the opportunity to define yourself and your future path in life. No matter your interests, you'll find a way to get involved at Ambrose. Student clubs and chapel services, leadership opportunities and sport, help you find your place in university life. In addition, our residence and student development services are here to support you along the way. As an Ambrose student, you'll be a part of this community that truly cares about who you are and what you are capable of achieving.
